Powel Crosley built the Florida winter home for his wife, Gwendolyn, in 1929. The two-and-a-half-story Mediterranean mansion was built in the southwest corner of Bradenton on a 60-acre parcel of land on Sarasota Bay adjacent to the John Ringling Estate. The 11,000-square-foot home has 21 rooms and 10 baths, and an adjacent carriage house has room for three cars and servants' quarters on the second floor. Originally the mansion had a swimming pool, a seaplane dock and yacht basin. The home featured many innovations for its time, including a steel frame encased in cast stone, embedded pipes and wiring, and a 135-day construction schedule. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, Seagate was saved from commercial development and purchased for renovation by Manatee County, which operates it as a meeting, conference and event venue.

Located on the beautiful intracoastal, the Clearwater Community Sailing Center is home to the Carlisle Room and Veranda. With views of Clearwater Bay, our space is an ideal location to for your special occasion. It is a blank canvas for you to make your occasion unique. A full day time block is 9AM – 11PM. The time block needs to include decorating, the event and clean up. Tables and chairs are included in the rental price. Our staff will set the tables and chairs up for you by 11am on the day of your event. All other set up and decorating is DIY. We do use preferred catering so we ask that you choose from a list of five approved vendors. If you go outside that list, or choose to bring your own food there will be $250 fee.

It’s been the setting for everything from weddings, corporate functions, fundraising galas, holiday parties, graduation celebrations, and more… You can rent out the entire Club for a soiree with around 250 people, or choose the intimate Private Grill-Room which holds about 20 people. The Grill Room itself can accommodate around 60 people, while the Main Dining room can easily fit about 120 people including, space to set to be utilized as a dance floor.
