Sassy Diva Designs & Events

5.0

Redwood City, CA
  • Starts at $3,500

Being based in Redwood City gives us close proximity to some of Northern California's finest areas for weddings and events. Our clientele is very diverse and so are their events. From lush wineries in Napa and Sonoma, to chic and historical properties in San Francisco, we use our experience and creativity to create events that tell the story our clients desire. Through flowers, rentals, and event coordination, we bring your event to life. Your story is unique and we're looking forward to getting to know you and learning how we can work together to make your event beautiful and stress free.

Sassy Diva Designs is absolutely the magic behind our wedding day. Due to the impacts of COVID-19, we canceled our July destination wedding and a few other dates that we tried for soon after. When we finally thought we were going to move forward with an October wedding the venue recommended I connect with Sassy Diva. We had an initial conversation but naturally, things didn't seem ideal to wait for October so I reached out to Beth 2 more times to see if other plans might work better. With less than a few weeks I reached out to Beth and asked if it would be possible to pull off a small wedding in our home and with excitement she said YES! Beth is so creative, flexible, proactive, and just downright helpful. She made planning a small wedding in less than ideal time seem easy. Her team is attentive and friendly and I really couldn't recommend Sassy Diva Designs without the highest regard possible. Don't even think about it just reach out to them!

Flower Moxie – Do-It-Yourself Wedding Flowers

5.0

Oklahoma City, OK
  • Serves South San Francisco, CA

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

I purchased LOTS of flowers for my wedding through Flower Moxie and highly recommend them. I paid for enough flowers/greenery for bouquets, bouteneirs, centerpieces, bud vases and an arch decoration and it came out to the same amount as it would've costed me to have a florist make me only 5 bouquets! DIY is difficult but with their really detailed videos and instructions and with the help of my bridal party, everything turned out beautiful. There was only one issue where one of the boxes was delivered very damaged and wet but it was taken care of without any stress, very quickly. I got the canyon rose package and added lots of greenery and some dried flowers to give it a more boho look and I got the exact look I always dreamed of. So happy with it!

Something Borrowed Blooms

4.8

Lafayette, LA
  • Starts at $250
  • Serves South San Francisco, CA

Thousands of brides across the United States and Canada have trusted Something Borrowed Blooms to provide the perfect flowers for their wedding day. We offer brides the expensive peonies, delicate ranunculus, out-of-season anemones, and the ever-impossible-to-find-magnolia — all at a fraction of the cost.

We literally could not have been happier with our decision to rent from SBB! When I opened the boxes, I was so impressed with how real they looked, felt, and smelled. Everyone was shocked they were fake! Even the candles had a wax feel to them with flickering to mimic a real flame. Renting from SBB also saved us literally thousands of dollars on florals and rentals while still giving us the look we wanted. Additionally, it was so easy to receive and ship them back. Here are the items we rented: 1 Olivia Garden Cut Bridal Bouquet 6 Nina Bridesmaids Bouquets 1 Olivia Garland 1 Nina Garland 2 Nina Large Centerpieces 1 Set of Small Cane Lanterns 1 Set of Medium Cane Lanterns 1 Set of Large Cane Lanterns 3 Nina Dog Collars 2 Sets of Copper Glass Votives 6 Sets of Burnt Copper Candlesticks For our ceremony, I used the Olivia and Nina Garland to decorate our arch then we moved this to the Sweetheart table for our Reception along with several candlesticks and votives. For the reception, we had 2 tables with the Nina Large Centerpiece and several votive candles. 2 Tables had 1 small cane lantern, 1 medium cane lantern, and 1 large cane lantern and we tied the dog collars around the medium size cane lantern to add some florals. Then for 6 of our tables, we repurposed the bridesmaids bouquets in various vases along with several candlesticks and votives.

I came to floral design through gardening, herbalism, and plant medicine, and my work is inspired by the healing power of wild nature and the seasonal beauty of the Bay Area. As my fiancé and I started the wedding planning process, we joked that our loose theme would be “flowers and love.” We knew we wanted lots of beautiful, lush florals as the primary decor focus, and also knew we didn’t want to spend the many thousands of dollars to achieve that look with a standard florist. If you’re in the same boat, and have an appetite for some DIYing, I’d STRONGLY recommend working with Bloom Culture. After some Googling for DIY wedding florals, I came across Bloom Culture and spoke with Allison for a custom consultation. During the call, Allison helped me express the type of floral look we were going for, and built out a custom floral package that would achieve it. She also laid out the delivery and prep process, and we landed on a final package and timeline for delivery. We received a LARGE box of flowers the week before the wedding and were immediately pleased with the quantity and quality of flowers we had received. Allison’s guide mentioned that some crushed or damaged blooms would be completely normal, but everything was so well packaged we didn’t notice more than a few damaged stems. From there, the DIYing began. Between unpacking, trimming, de-thorning, trimming again, building bouquets, arrangements, boutonnieres, etc, etc, it was a LOT of work. However, we referenced Allison’s guides (written, video tutorials) religiously and they laid out everything perfectly. She strongly recommends having plenty of assistants -- pay attention to this advice! Find a few trusted friends or family members who have time and artistic ability and it will make all the difference in your stress levels. The flowers all lasted beautifully for the wedding and we received so many compliments on how they looked. Allison - thank you for everything!
