The next week I enrolled in Flower School and after I finished my studies I started The Gathering florist and haven’t looked back! Colour is a big part of our inspiration. The first question I ask my clients is what colours they love and what colour they would like featured on their day. Years ago, I read this poem by Mary Oliver. No longer inspired by my tech start-up desk job, I thought to myself, ‘what is it I would like to spend my life doing?’. I turned to the first job I ever had in high school, being a florist, and began Wild. Over the years, I have discovered such meaning in creating with my hands. I’m coffee obsessed, currently binge-watching something on Netflix or listening to Maximum Fun Network podcasts while working. I think that getting to work with fresh flowers, from down the road or all over the world, then arranging them into something stunning for customers that will see them and feel emotionally inspired by is a wonderful way to spend my time working in this world.
