Nothing is more important to us than family, which is one of the reasons we started our adventure to build a barn wedding venue. A Place where we can not only work together as a family but we can be a part of new families being formed. We love what we do and we feel truly blessed to be able to be a part of one of the most important, beautiful days a person will ever experience.

The house, that is now the face of Southern Oaks, was built in 1820. Still with its original wooding and design, this house is what makes our venue stand out from others. It includes a Bridal Suite, Groom's Room, a Den Area for parents and grandparents to relax, and a recently added "Ladies Loft" just for hair and makeup. The home is filled with large, elegant chandeliers and stunning furniture. The property has 3 historic barns, a chapel, 2 patio decks, and the largest reception area in Lexington County. The outdoor area is full of pecan and oak trees, along with a breathtaking lush landscape.

Our wedding venue is unique because the ceremony, reception, and lodging overlook the beautiful Roaring River. You are just a few feet from the river at all times. The views are amazing, and few vineyards in the local area can rival the natural beauty of our setting. The vineyard has an elegant old-world stone entrance, ponds on each side of the main entrance road, and a beautiful stone fountain. As you pass the door, the vineyards unfold before you – the view is reminiscent of a French hillside vineyard. We are a full-service resort with event venues, lodging, a hot tub building, Chez Josephine Restaurant, a beer/wine tasting room, RV Park, and Harvest Host. We have one of the most scenic sites for your event, with 1.5 miles of riverbanks along the Roaring River. Few sites have an actual river, perhaps a creek, but this is the east prong of the Roaring River that flows down from Stone Mountain.

Down a gravel road, surrounded by lush fields is a sweet & elegant, unique, farm venue. With a pond & a goose or two, we can make your event amazing! Doug and Cindy Carroll opened the venue in 2005 with the first wedding being held in 2006. Doug’s grandson, Paul, now takes care of the property and his wife Monica handles the day to day operations and even coordinates some of the weddings. The Murray’s Mill Historic District, in the rolling countryside of eastern Catawba County, nestles just as it was a century ago along the banks of Balls Creek. Preserved intact are the 1913 mill itself, the 1890s Murray & Minges General Store, the 1880s Wheathouse, used as an exhibit gallery, the 1913 John Murray House, furnished to the period, and numerous outbuildings. Run by three generations of the Murray Family who closed operations in 1967, the picturesque structures and surrounding land form the last milling complex in the county, meticulously preserved and interpreted by the Catawba County Historical Association since 1980.

An 18-hole golf course was established in 1964. Open year-round. We also have a swimming pool & pickleball court available in the summer. We are open to the public, memberships also available. We love serving our community so come give us a try!

We are a small to medium sized barn venue. The authentic circa 1950 cattle barn and reception pavilion have been renovated into a useable, rustic, yet charming facility for weddings, vow renewals, showers, retirement parties, anniversary parties, etc. We opened in 2017 and have received Cleveland County’s Best of the Best Wedding Venue Award from the Shelby Star each year since that time. We have three ceremony sites to choose from: inside the barn, on the front lawn of the barn (weather permitting), and on the lawn slightly south of the barn (weather permitting). We also have had ceremonies inside the reception pavilion. The panoramic view from the reception pavilion deck is a favorite spot for photos and gatherings. This area overlooks the firepit, as well as the highly photographed views of the gorgeous sunsets.

Imagine yourself walking off a busy street in America and through a door that takes you back in time to the cozy and communal atmosphere of a traditional pub 100 years ago in Ireland. This is what David Kelly and Ciaran Sheehan set out to accomplish when they built their first Rí Rá pub in Charlotte, NC in 1997. They set to work in Dublin to meticulously restore the unique Victorian bar in the middle of the Charlotte pub. Rí Rá is located in Charlotte's busy banking district. Since opening, it has become a favorite hot spot for downtown locals and visitors alike. The pub is unique in that it was built from an actual old pub in Ireland. It was first built in the early 1800s for the officer's mess in the Phoenix Park Barracks in Dublin.

In the year of 1762, Mr. Newberry and Mr. Thames purchased the land from Mr. Gray. In the deed, there was mention of a sawmill and grist mill on the place, but no mention of a house. In 1833 Mr. Byrne purchased the land from Mr. Newberry. At this time the house and store were on the land. Later on Mr. Byrne sold the land, and it change hands several times..." The house served as a mill home, store, and the Gray's Creek post office for many years.

With plantings of more than 200 trees since purchasing the property in 2017, the owners are committed to preserving the last remaining 2+ acres of what was once a vast 3,200-acre homesite/farmland. Initially, the 62-acre Het Landhuis Estate was part of a 1,000-acre farm owned by the Henderson family who operated a tanyard in the area, making saddles and other leather items. One day a future bride drove past Het Landhuis; she stopped in the main driveway and asked if she could get married there. Heist opened its doors in 2012, as Charlotte's only Craft Brewpub. Originally brewing on a 10HL German brewhouse, we expanded in 2017, adding 30 barrel production facility. Our original focus was on small-batch beer in the traditional Belgian and German style brews. In 2016, we found our stride, creating the original hazy IPA in North Carolina, CitraQuench'l. Since then, we have worked tirelessly to expand our portfolio, now ranging from hazy IPAs and pilsners to fruited sours and adjuncted stouts. We still make the occasional small batches, which are typically kept in house for pours at both our locations.
