Based in Staten Island, New York, Cause and The Effects is an enthusiastic band comprised of young musical professionals ready to perform at your wedding. The band was founded in 2011 but the versatile members have been playing together and separately for more than two decades. You can choose between a seven-, eight-, or 10-piece band to perform at your reception, while smaller groups can perform during the ceremony and cocktail hour. Show-stopping music is performed with a variety of instruments such as horns, percussion, saxophones, flute, and piano. Schaffer Sound Disc Jockeys is a family owned and operated business. Our founder, Ken Schaffer, started the company in 1977 at the ripe old age of fourteen! He started providing DJ entertainment for grade schools and parties and as he grew older demand for his company’s services soared. Soon, those same students he was playing for in school gymnasiums and cafeterias were getting married and many hired his company to perform at their weddings. Ken gradually handed the reins of the company over to the very capable hands of his brothers, Jon and Dave Schaffer.

Bassist and bandleader Josh Levine got his start in the professional music business busking in SoHo with The Flying Neutrinos in ’93, so when NYC shut down in Spring of 2020, he capitalized on his experience as a street performer and began to play regularly in the parks of NYC with percussionist and sonero, Jainardo Batista, renowned flutist Itai Kriss making his debut on Cuban trés guitar, and María Raquel on vocals and minor percussion. Before long, the quartet had generated some buzz, several venues hired them to play outdoors and pianist Gabriel Chakarji and Grammy winning flutist and vocalist Jeremy Bosch became staples of the group.
