The Westin Poinsett Hotel was built in 1924. After the Great Depression, it started to get a lot of traction from local residents and quickly became known as “Carolina’s Finest.” It was purchased in 1997 and the extensive renovation process began, transforming it to the same flamboyant hotel that hosted guests such as Amelia Earhart and Bobby Kennedy. ​The barn has been built from the ground up by Craig Carpenter, his brother Timmy Carpenter and other family and friends. Many of the trees use to build the barn were harvested from their property and were prepared at their saw mill on site. What began as a simple dream and a sketch on a piece of notebook paper, has now become a reality. We are a small to medium sized barn venue. The authentic circa 1950 cattle barn and reception pavilion have been renovated into a useable, rustic, yet charming facility for weddings, vow renewals, showers, retirement parties, anniversary parties, etc. We opened in 2017 and have received Cleveland County’s Best of the Best Wedding Venue Award from the Shelby Star each year since that time.
